Spring Weddings | Tips for the season in bloom
Spring Weddings in Georgia: Tips and Tricks
Spring Weddings are always a favorite in the south! Warm weather begins to arrive in March and along with it comes bursts of green, blooms and sunshine. Everyone has a new energy about them and the feeling of refresh and renew makes everyone happy. Spring means it’s time to get outside and reconnect and what better event to celebrate the season than a wedding, a celebration of love, family and new beginnings.
Spring weddings are very popular in the south for many good reasons but they can always have some bumps with them too. Below is our summary on Spring weddings; tips and tricks, and a recap of some of our favorite weddings at Pepper Sprout Barn.
Let’s talk weather!
In Georgia, our Spring weather is close to perfect; mild days, sunny skies and we still have time before the humidity hits! Each month has it’s own personality. March can be pollen season and temperatures can be a bit unpredictable, in April spring showers are likely and in May the heat can start to creep in. When venue shopping, we recommend you ask your venue about their outdoor seating plans and a rain plan. At Pepper Sprout barn, we set up your ceremony seating two and a half hours before your ceremony, that way we can be sure your guests will not have to sit on wet seats or seats covered in pollen. As for rain, we always create a rain plan at your 30-day meeting. As long as you are under the max guest count, we can get everyone inside if Mother Nature does not cooperate. Our goal is always to get you outside but we have a plan B to reduce the stress on your day.
Tents can be an expensive last minute change of plans and sometimes they are necessary. At Pepper Sprout Barn, we can discuss tents and give you cost options at any point in your planning. We know extra expenses are not always welcome so we try our best to eliminate the need altogether. Keep in mind that if rain is in the forecast, all the couples getting married on your weekend might need a tent too, so be sure to reserve your tent well in advance.
If rain does arrive, remember the day isn’t about where you get married, it’s about who you are sharing your vows with and the moment two become one. We promise years from now the details of your ceremony backdrop will be a distant memory but you will always remember the emotion of the moment when you proclaimed your love and devotion to your best friend and the love of your life in front of all your family and friends.
Down south, each month looks a little different!
More and more couples are choosing an outdoor ceremony compared to fifteen years ago.
Georgia is in bloom in the spring, it’s truly one of the best seasons down here, everything feels alive and new! In March, trees come alive & daffodils are popping up everywhere, in April grass & blooms start to pop and in May everything is green and full of leaves.
When planning your wedding day, keep in mind that in March some trees can still be bare. In April, trees like dogwoods and Bradford Pear trees have their flower blooms and in May, the big trees like Pecans and Oaks are in full bloom and grandeur.
Color, color, color!
Spring weddings have so many color options and trends. From pastels to greenery to bright colors, all color palettes work in the Spring. You can truly find the color scheme that best fits your style. Also, many flowers and shrubs are in peak season so things like daisies, orchids, tulips and hydrangea are not as expensive. That means your floral budget can stretch further and in our humble opinion, flowers are a must for Spring weddings. It’s the definition of the season!
Because of the mild weather and everyone’s adoration for the season of rebirth and blooms, Spring dates typically book out nine months to a year in advance but there are a lot of considerations to be made for the date you pick.
Spring can be a tricky time to find the perfect date. In March you have St. Patrick’s Day and possibly have Passover and Easter. The latter two holidays can also fall to April. In May, weekends are busy…Mother’s Day and both high school and college graduations and Memorial Day make May a challenge. The third weekend in May is the most popular and almost always the first to book.
Be sure to look at your calendar and narrow down your date as you start your venue search. Have a few options you are open to and you’ll likely find a date that works for you!
