New year, new changes at Pepper Sprout Barn | See what we've been up to!
Our doors have been open to life’s celebrations for three years now. It blows our mind every time we say it. We are so grateful for all the families and companies that have trusted us with their events and allowed us to be a part of their time to celebrate life’s happy moments.
We estimate that in the first three years, approximately 15,000 have been at the venue, perhaps many more! As you can imagine, that would add some wear and tear to the buildings. As we begin our fourth year, we knew some changes, updates and improvements were needed, so we’ve spent the last two months working so hard to get ready for our 2019 wedding season.
Some changes are for our future couples, some for our vendors and some for our staff—it’s a team effort at Pepper Sprout Barn and it’s important that we take steps to improve everyone’s experience. We wanted to share these changes with you because not all them are easy to spot when you are walking through the venue but combined they make a big difference!
The little things make a big difference.
Sure these items may not be glamorous but you’d notice them if they weren’t fixed. Some of the repairs and improvements we made:
We repainted the farmhouse, fixing dings, scrapes and spots on the wall.
We re-anchored all the big mirrors for safely of our guests, especially the littlest ones.
We repaired wobbly, damaged or bowing steps to ensure everyone gets around sure-footed.
We cleaned all the ceiling fans, light fixtures and replaced broken or low hanging string lights.
We repaired all doors, fixed drafts, sealers and locks.
We added new shelving to our storage room so all decor is in the barn, making it more accessible to our staff and clients.
We re-grated the driveway where the rain and trash truck created a huge mess every week.
We got a new rack for the firewood and a cover for the fire pit so rain before a wedding will not longer ruin the chances of a fire on a wedding night.
We tiled the backsplash in the barn kitchen for our vendors. This will help with easier cleanup since tile is much easier to wipe down than painted walls! The kitchen walls are also getting a fresh coat of washable paint for easy cleanup.
Both the guys and girls rooms in the farmhouse got fresh, new area rugs to brighten up the rooms and make them feel new again.
We painted a few pieces of furniture to freshen them up and added some art work and decor to the house for fun updates.
Our mailbox got hit in January, so it’s sturdy again and we got new Exit Only signs for the second entrance to make it clear which way to enter. We know our parking guys will love those!
We made some big purchases too—all of them for our future couples to use if they so choose.
A brand new, handmade wood arbor for our ceremony area. This custom designed piece was built by one of our very own grooms! Ryan Scurfield, with Scurfield Woodworks, delivered this beautiful piece this week! The best part is it breaks down and can be stored in our shed for safe keeping and it will last for years to come. It can be decorated with fabric, florals, lanterns or anything else you can imagine.
Our new greenery wall! Another custom piece created by one of our favorites, Connie Nutt with Bloom Theory Studio. We wanted to create a backdrop for our sweetheart and head table areas. It can be used with our without ribbons, depending on your style. Not putting your sweetheart table or head table against the stone wall? That’s ok, it will make a beautiful backdrop for your cake table or selfie station for your guests!
The purchase you’ll notice as soon as walk into the barn....our brand new dark wood cross back chairs! Let me tell you, we are in LOVE with them! They make such an impact to the room and really pull all the details and design of the barn’s interior together. We have 180 of them for you and your guests.
More new decor pieces and some updates on existing pieces
Some of our decor pieces got an update too. We have a new option for a sweetheart table: a newly painted 42” table and two gray upholstered chairs for the couple of the night.
We have refaced the mantle we were gifted last year and have repainted the new antique wood door that can be used as a tabletop on whiskey barrels. We also got a new display table, a blend of stained and painted wood that is perfect for displaying favors, a guest book or gifts.
Our planters have fresh new flowers and plants to greet you as you arrive and let Spring know we are ready for warmer days and colorful blooms.
We pride ourselves on our venue. We work hard every day to keep the venue clean, safe and up-to-date. We’ve been working non-stop to make sure we are ready to kick off this Spring wedding season and look forward to all the weddings ahead for 2019 & 2020. Trust us, new additions and improvements never stop in our world but the ones we have made so far have us excited for the events ahead.
